Being Agile and creating User Story for new app features

Recently, I tried to use one of the Agile methods and created a or some user stories to plan out some of the upcoming features of My Day To-Do.  The user story that I created centres around a woman who has to do her Christmas shopping and decides to use a todo list app to help her with her shopping. You can read it here . If you find my blog posts useful and want to support me, you can  Checkout the new website and let us know you have any feedback? Buy the pro version of  My Day To-Do  - it's cheaper at this stage Download the  Lite (free) version  and unlock one of it's IAPs Or give our app  I was there , the app we built to simplify texting a try Whichever version you try, if you leave us an App Store review that would really help.

University students, taking lecture notes and submitting assignments

In the last few months, I adopted a slightly different approach to marketing for My Day To-Do and I wrote two different blogposts. These are fictional stories of how two female university students aged between 19-24 and how they use a certain to-do list app solves their problem. Anyway have a read of those and let me know if you have any feedback, Taking Lecture Notes in Class Submitting a university assignment on time

Mailchimp to talk to your app subscribers

The My Day To-Do iOS app has had a subscribe button for the longest time, however it wasn't doing anything apart from collecting email addresses. Recently we (I) actually did something about it and that is send them all an email using Mailchimp and invited them to share their thoughts about My Day To-Do with us. You can, Read our post  Trying to get app feedback from your subscribers  which talks about the entire process of using Mailchimp as well as the result of our initiative Hope that post helps you know more about what an awesome tool Mailchimp is and how it can benefit your startup. Performance issues & iOS UITableView

Recently, while building our new app I was there , we ran into some problems while trying to get the app working smoothly on older iOS hardware i.e. iPhone 5 . I narrowed down the problem to an image optimisation issue and proceeded to solve that doing what seemed pretty obvious to me. Anyway I have written about my method of solving the problem as well as given some sample code to help explain the solution. You can read the post on, UITableView with images & performance issues Also have a look at some s ample code on GitHub on how to create a UITableView where each row shows an image and how to optimise it to run on older iOS hardware If you find my blog posts useful and want to support me, you can  Checkout the new website and let us know you have any feedback? Free marketing through Instagram and YouTube video uploads

I realise that it has taken me some time to write a new blogpost and the reason being, there's a lot happening right now and my brain is juggling between one to many disparate things. Some of these things are An attempt at free marketing via uploading app tutorial videos on Instagram and YouTube and hoping they would go viral or generate some buzz How a meeting with a marketing expert made us realise that building a more professional company website should be out top priotity Ok without further a due, let's get started by talking about free marketing FREE Marketing As of the last 3 to 4 weeks, I have started using Instagram quite a bit i.e. one of the trainers at my gym asked me to get on Instagram and I was like "sure why not", I could potentially share pictures taken with our new FREE app, I was there . Once I started using Instagram  (Insta), I just realised how easy it is to share media (picture or video) on it. Sharing soon became a regular thing...

Trying to generate revenue in a startup(mobile app based)

Image
My Day To-Do  has been in business for almost three years now and at this point it's an app available on iOS app store and like any business it needs to generate some revenue to be a sustainable business. Is My Day To-Do a financially sustainable business right now? NO, not at all and that is why in the last few months I have taken a few steps to try and change that. In this post I will be taking about some of the initiatives that I took to generate some revenue. These initiatives range from changing the price of the My Day To-Do Pro version to adding in-app purchases in Lite to advertising and all of these have managed to yield some results. In this post I will talk in detail about these initiatives and hopefully any new startup founder can learn something from it. Background I started working on My Day To-Do when I was recovering from my accident that gave me a traumatic brain injury  after which I had to learn how to walk followed by separation from the woman ...

Improving app onboarding (tutorial) with Analytics and without design skills

Image
My Day To-Do  was built to make life easy for it's users and as such it has several useful features to achieve that goal. One of the things that has always been a concern to me is that I have most likely doing a very poor job of making sure that the users know about what these features are. The features are in place to help users and as such if they don't know about it, they can't use it, so it is all somewhat pointless and a lot of hard work has gone into it. I know I am not a good designer and I think my best design would be just 'acceptable' at best and there's a good chance of it not being very intuitive. At this stage My Day To-Do is very small and as such there isn't a dedicated designer, so in this post I will talk about all the things that I tried to make educate the users about all the features of My Day To-Do, taking into account the design limitations at My Day To-Do. What you can expect to read are a chronological list of attempts (techniques ...

2017: year in review, user feedback and intern expectations

The reason why this post has taken some time to come is there's simply too much going at My Day To-Do right now. There are far too many disparate (different) things for me to keep my head around, hence I simply haven't had the time to write a post about it all...at least till now. This going to be a slightly shorter post and it will have a slightly different structure to my usual blogposts. 2017 Year in review It was a pretty good year for My Day To-Do and we experienced significant growth at My Day To-Do, let's start with a short summary of it all. Summary My original goal going into year 2017 was to increase download numbers of My Day To-Do , and end the run of abysmal download numbers of 2016. How bad? 44 downloads per month for Lite yes that bad.  As far as the goal  of download numbers is concerned, 2017 was a very successful year for My Day To-Do. Here's a breakdown of the the total download numbers Total downloads: 10, 500 Now a break dow...
